Superman Returns

Written by Emma on July 27th, 2006

I was looking forward to this movie a lot. Although I enjoyed it just because it was a Superman movie, there was something lacking and very wrong with it.

1. The story should have taken off where Superman 4 left off not 2. In this Lois Lane is neither married to Superman nor does she know of his true identity.

2. If you look at Superman’s personality over the past 4 movies, he is so in love with Lois Lane that he gives up his powers for her in Part 4. However, in this he leaves her without saying goodbye and disappears for 5 years to find the remnants of his lost world. He is the sweet guy who spends half his salary on his old mother and here he leaves her without a worry as to what will happen to her? Are we really talking abut Superman here? If I want a reality show I will watch one. When I watch Superman I want to see fantasy … a world saved by a hero and a woman he loves so much that he will give up everything for her (and this definitely does not include leaving her for 5 years).

July 7, 2006 – Woken Up to the Harsh Reality

Written by Emma on July 11th, 2006

Dear Diary,

I’m still in shock! Just a few minutes back I heard that my cousin’s house was raided by robbers, he was badly beaten up and they stole God knows what and went their merry way.

I am happy that his life has been spared but my heart is heavy that something like this can happen. That someone can just waltz into your house, drag you out of your bed and then beat you up for no reason.

What kind of people do that? Don’t they ever think of the consequences of what they are doing? Doesn’t it matter to them that they are hurting another individual? Are they so beyond everything that another person’s life, their feelings do not matter to them? Sadly, I guess not.

The Lake House

Written by Emma on July 11th, 2006

Starring: Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock

This a cute, romantic story that follows the lives of two individuals who fall in love over time or rather despite time. The story revolves around them communicating with letters and then realizing that they actually live two years apart.

If you are a sci fi buff or like your movies to make sense, forget about logic … this movie is not about that. Otherwise you will find a dozen things that do not make sense. For example: If an x event inspired a y event which led to a z event, then if you take out the x then how do y and z still happen LOL!

Watch the movie…let its emotions sweep you away and don’t think too much and you will fall in love with it. That is the way to watch any romantic movie.

July 7, 2006 – Fashion Paranoia

Written by Emma on July 11th, 2006

Dear Diary,

The other day I walked into this shop. I had to go up to the counter to exchange a product and halfway there I stopped dead in my tracks!

Thoughts running through my mind:

  • Ack!!!! There is someone wearing the exact same print that I am wearing.
  • There is no way I am getting near the counter!
  • Wild horses can’t drag me
  • Run!!!
  • Turn around! Walk the other way!
  • How could this happen!!!

And I thought I couldn’t care less ;-)

July 7, 2006 – Becoming a Woman

Written by Emma on July 11th, 2006

Dear Diary,

Some people have really weird ideas about marriage and becoming a woman. A few days back I went to this wedding and overheard the following conversation between two unnamed people:

Person A: Oh B, you have become very domesticated!

My Comment: Simple Question. A simple answer could have been: “Yeah, you do when you get married.” But we get a not so simple and very weird reply.

Person B: Oh I have gotten married so now I’m a woman so I do things like a woman and not like a girl.

My Comment: Huh!!!

The same Person B once upon a time had the following exchange with my cousin who had recently gotten engaged:
