I was looking forward to this movie a lot. Although I enjoyed it just because it was a Superman movie, there was something lacking and very wrong with it.
1. The story should have taken off where Superman 4 left off not 2. In this Lois Lane is neither married to Superman nor does she know of his true identity.
2. If you look at Superman’s personality over the past 4 movies, he is so in love with Lois Lane that he gives up his powers for her in Part 4. However, in this he leaves her without saying goodbye and disappears for 5 years to find the remnants of his lost world. He is the sweet guy who spends half his salary on his old mother and here he leaves her without a worry as to what will happen to her? Are we really talking abut Superman here? If I want a reality show I will watch one. When I watch Superman I want to see fantasy … a world saved by a hero and a woman he loves so much that he will give up everything for her (and this definitely does not include leaving her for 5 years).
**Major Spoilers Ahead**
Some things that either did not make sense or I just did not like:
*The plane scene was great. However, it takes great effort and time on Superman’s part to stop the plane. In comparison, he effortlessly lifts a mountain load of ‘Green Meteorite’, which is the only material capable of killing him and should have taken away his powers, and throws it out in the universe in much less time. All I can say is Huh!!
*A tidal wave hits Metropolis! Since we are talking about a tidal wave, I wondered how even Superman can stop the destruction from taking place and be in a 100 places at one time. But he sweeps down, saves a couple of people, blows out one fire and saves the globe from falling on top of his boss’ head. And that was the extent of the trouble caused by a full fledged tidal wave which was supposed to kill millions.
*I would have liked to see more of the little kid and his super powers. The piano scene left something to be desired - you wanted more. And I would have liked to see him getting introduced to his father when he was awake.
*The ending was way too abrupt and unsatisfactory. You are left wondering if Lois is still with that nice guy or have they separated. And the ending just leaves a sour taste in your mouth because you just expected more out of it.
**End Spoilers**
I did expect more from this movie which didn’t get delivered. I wish they had continued after the 4th part and not come up with this dumb idea of having Superman return after 5 years.

Umm, I think the stuff that took away super man’s powers was kryptonite not meteorite?
